Baby Birds – Week Two

So last week I shared with you how we found the nest of three baby birds. What a difference a week makes! I can’t believe how fast these little guys grew!

Unfortunately, it looks like one of them didn’t make it and only momma knows why. I came home one day and there were two. That’s nature.

I was able to get a picture of momma and some better shots of the bird-port and it’s relationship to the power-lines. Momma always hangs out on the power-lines just above the nest now, I don’t think we’ve seen her actually in the nest at all this week. A lot of the time I see her up there, she’s got a bit of worm in her beak.

So far I haven’t been able to snap any pictures of her feeding the babies but I would really like to pull that off. She’s skittish though, so the only way I think I could do it would be to sit on the otherside of the road with my zoom lens trained on the nest for a few hours. Gonna have to think about that one…

But at this rate, the babies will be leaving the nest before we know it!
